As soon as you turn the reelk handle to reel in it stops acting like a clutch. This means you can have it set so you dont get broken off or lose your rod when your attention slips or you reach for the coffee flask and a carp decides to head for the horizon. Which they invariably do on a method feeder.

Very exciting stuff. Give it a try. As has been said, the Baitrunner facility disengages the spool from the gears in the reel allowing it to turn on its own. The spare spool allows you to load the reel with line perfectly by using the reverse loading technique whereby you load the backing line on top of the casting line and then winding on to the second spool.

I did in fact call in at Leigh Tackle and bait on Thursday to ask for their advice to put me right so to speak. Although this did stretch my budget, I went with the 10ft Daiwa Matchman feeder rod and the Inertia reel which they spooled up for me. I gave this setup a run out yesterday at Partridge lakes on Pine and caught roughly carp with the biggest around 5lb.
