Microsoft access 2016 has stopped working free download

I have been using Office Access for over a year without any problem. Suddenly, the application refuses to start. It immediately fails and displays the message “Microsoft access has stopped working” followed by another message indicating that Access could not start in safe mode and offering to repair.

Clicking on repair causes an fatal exception. It is to be noted that I am not trying to open a particular database. I am merely starting Access from the start menu. I have tried to repair Office without avail. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled from the Office site.

Nothing works. As a final test I have tried to open several Access databases that before worked flawlessly. None of them open now. I also noticed that Onedrive had stopped working and I uninstalled it. Absolutely nothing works and I am in a bind because I make a heavy use of Access. If be looking at uninstalling any recent ones to see if they caused the problem.

Is your installation English? I know there are some major issues with the latest office update for foreign language installations and the best thing you can presently do is revert back to a prior version.

I have tried to install the bit version of Office instead, but this installation fails with the same message “Microsoft Office has stopped working”.

The problem applies to Access only. All other Office apps work well. This is an English only installation. It has been working correctly until a couple of weeks ago.

I haven’t installed any new applications recently. Can you tell me how can I revert to a prior version of Office? It is possible that my problem is caused by a recent update that has been made silently without my noticing it. That said, I think you are very close to a reinstall of Windows. Trying to find the fix takes an unknown amount of time. Rebuilding the machine takes a known amount of time.
